Spyware Detection

If you think clean web sites with nice-looking graphics are always safe, sadly, you are wrong! A national survey found 97% of those who use the internet can easily download spyware, adware, malware and other types of intruders.

Users were quizzed on how deft they were at spyware detection. The first part showed users two sites, and they were told to pick which was safe. Then, they were shown software sharing sites, and asked which were free of spyware and adware.

65% would have easily infected their computers with spyware and adware. It is very easy to miss the fine print, where users are basically told that spyware will be put on their hard drive. This quiz was designed to find out how a user's spyware detection skills, specifically, how easily they could spot harmful intruders.

When national advertisers had their ads on a page, and the site had a clean design, respondents often were tricked into thinking that web site is safe. Even those internet users deemed to have a high spyware detection IQ will almost certainly visit a site that has dangerous spyware intruders ready to pounce on your system.

Sites with screen savers, free games, and file sharing (songs, movies, etc) tricked users the most. Those taking this quiz also had a hard time with sites that have lyrics to songs on them. The theory is that these sites had ads from well-known companies like Circuit City and Monster, thus legitimizing it in the eyes of users and therefore tricking them.

Nasty Spyware Problems

A nasty problem is lurking on many computers, and many people are not even aware that it is there. But oh, what a problem it can present! And it is a problem that is very common. So common, in fact, that it is estimated to be found on 91 percent of computers. What am I talking about? I am talking about spyware.

Spyware is used for a number of different purposes, some harmless, others the complete opposite. Some types of spyware are just used to put a lot of advertising in your face. The most common example of this is the series of popups that can appear. But a much more serious type of spyware is the kind that is used to get a hold of your personal banking and credit information. This is achieved through the use of keyloggers, where each keystroke that you make is tracked, and the passwords are stolen, allowing hackers to get your money!

The problem is, you do not know what type of spyware is on your computer. That is why you should seriously consider getting a spyware remover. It will scan your PC for any types of threats, and you will then be given the option of getting rid of them. It will also work as an anti- spyware program by making sure that new threats do not invade your computer, and if they do somehow get on there, then they will be destroyed right away. Therefore, you need a spyware remover that has a large database of all the threats out there, and one that constantly updates itself.

The best spyware remover is XoftSpySE. Click the link for our XoftSpySE Review

XoftSpySE Reviews

The XoftSpySE reviews that I have done have found this spyware remover to have the biggest database of spyware out of any product. Currently it lists about 225,000 spyware applications. XoftSpySE reviews that database and the program is constantly updating itself, about twice a week to be exact, to keep up with all the spyware, malware, worms, keyloggers, hijackers and trojans.

XoftSpySE also found a high number of "accurate" spyware threats. What I mean by this is that a lot of spyware removers will show threats that are not really threats at all, and could actually be important programs you would not want to remove from your computer.

A good spyware removal product offers an interface that is easy to use. These are geared to users who might not have a great deal of knowledge about how to repair a computer. I would say that XoftSpySE falls into this category.

The other major feature that many of the spyware removers do not have, but you definitely should look for when you get a spyware removal product, is the ability to perform regular system scans to find any new spyware intruders. Good spyware cleaners come with a built in anti spyware defense mechanism, but even the best products do not offer 100 percent protection against spyware. Many XoftSpySE reviews, mine included, found that XoftSpySE is strong in that area.

XoftSpySE was designed by Paretologic Incorporated, the same company that developed RegCure, the popular registry repair software product. XoftSpySE will set you back about 30 dollars.

XoftSpySE Cost Compared to Other Spyware Removers, & Why It's a Great Deal

I know that cost of spyware removers is a big issue for many people. As I have said before, XoftSpySE is the absolute best spyware removal product. But some express concern about the XoftSpySE cost, considering that at $29.95, it is higher than some other products. But I have to tell you, in this case, the XoftSpySE cost is worth it. XoftSpySE has the biggest spyware database I have seen, and offers great customer service, a comprehensive scan, and also works as an anti spyware program.

FBI Warns of Storm Worm Virus

Here is one of the reasons why you need protection against malware

Go to Spyware Removal Guide & Spyware Remover Reviews now to get your protection!

From Newsmax:

The FBI and its partner, the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), have received reports of recent spam e-mails spreading the Storm Worm malicious software, known as malware.

These e-mails, which contain the phrase “F.B.I. vs. facebook,” direct e-mail recipients to click on a link to view an article about the FBI and Facebook, a popular social networking website. The Storm Worm virus has also been spread in the past in e-mails advertising a holiday e-card link.

Clicking on the link downloads malware onto the Internet connected device, causing it to become infected with the virus and part of the Storm Worm botnet. A botnet is a collection of compromised computers under the remote command and control of a criminal “botherder.”

Most owners of the compromised computers are unsuspecting victims. They have unintentionally allowed unauthorized access and use of their computers as a vehicle to facilitate other crimes, such as identity theft, denial of service attacks, phishing, click fraud, and the mass distribution of spam and spyware.

Because of their widely distributed capabilities, botnets are a growing threat to national security, the national information infrastructure, and the economy.

“The spammers spreading this virus are preying on Internet users and making their computers an unwitting part of criminal botnet activity. We urge citizens to help prevent the spread of botnets by becoming web-savvy. Following some simple computer security practices will reduce the risk that their computers will be compromised,” said Special Agent Richard Kolko, Chief, FBI National Press Office.

Everyone should consider the following:

Do not respond to unsolicited (spam) e-mail.

Be skeptical of individuals representing themselves as officials soliciting personal information via e-mail.

Do not click on links contained within an unsolicited e-mail.

Be cautious of e-mail claiming to contain pictures in attached files, as the files may contain viruses. Only open attachments from known senders.

Validate the legitimacy of the organization by directly accessing the organization's website rather than following an alleged link to the site.

Do not provide personal or financial information to anyone who solicits information.

Adware Alert is not loaded with features, but it will provide sufficient resources to scan your system and take spyware off your computer. How to Spot Anti-Spyware That's a Scam

Malicious programmers have released a large number of fake Malicious programmers have released a large number of fake anti-spyware programs, and widely distributed Web banner ads now spuriously warn users that their computers have been infected with spyware, directing them to purchase programs which do not actually remove spyware or worse, may add more spyware of their own.

The recent proliferation of fake or spoofed anti-spyware programs has occasioned some concern. Such products often bill themselves as antispyware, antivirus, or registry cleaners, and sometimes feature popups prompting users to install them. This software is called rogue software.

It recommended that users do not install any freeware claiming to be anti-spyware unless it is verified to be legitimate. Some known offenders include:

* AntiVirus Gold
* ContraVirus
* Errorsafe (AKA system doctor)
* MacSweeper
* PAL Spyware Remover
* Pest Trap
* PSGuard
* SpywareStrike
* Spyware Quake
* Spydawn
